## Summary

A full mouth rehabilitation is a planned series of treatments to restore teeth that have been worn down, broken, heavily filled or lost over time. It is usually considered when problems affect several teeth at once and a one-at-a-time approach will not settle the bite or give a consistent appearance. Most cases run across several months and are designed around preserving as much of your natural tooth as possible.

## Key points

- Every case starts with a detailed assessment of your teeth, gums, bite and jaw joints before any treatment is planned.
- Digital scan of your mouth, not putty impressions, and work with a skilled dental ceramist in the lab.
- We typically place a set of lab-made provisionals so you can trial the look and bite for a period before committing to final ceramic.
- Gum treatment and implant work (with Dr Neil Cooper) is handled in-house. No onward referral for the main stages.

## How a rehabilitation runs

1. **Consultation and records.** Photos, digital scan, X-rays where needed, and a thorough bite and jaw check. Nothing is treated at this visit.
2. **Digital planning and on-screen preview.** Your scans are used to design the whole case before anything is prepared, with you in the room.
3. **Written treatment plan.** A staged plan in writing with an itemised fee schedule, so you see what each stage costs before agreeing to anything.
4. **Foundation work.** In-house gum treatment, replacing failing fillings, settling any active decay, and any tooth replacement with implants (with Dr Neil Cooper) handled in-house.
5. **Lab-made provisionals.** A set of temporary ceramic restorations placed in your mouth so you can trial the aesthetics and the bite. You wear them, we refine shape and length if needed, and only commit to final ceramic once you are happy.
6. **Final restorations.** The approved provisional design transfers to hand-crafted final ceramic by our ceramist. Preparation and fit appointments are typically one week apart.
7. **Bite check and nightguard.** Once the new restorations are in, we fine-tune how the teeth meet and, for most patients, make a custom nightguard to protect the work from grinding.
8. **Long-term maintenance.** Regular reviews and hygiene visits help the result hold up over time.

## Benefits at a glance

- **Preserves your tooth.** We rebuild with composite and ceramic onlays before considering crowns. Your natural enamel is the best material.
- **Trial before final.** Lab-made provisionals let you test the look and bite before we commit to ceramic. Fewer surprises.
- **Digital and precise.** Intraoral scans replace putty impressions. The whole case is designed digitally before anything is prepared.
- **In-house gum and implant care.** Gum treatment and implant work (with Dr Neil Cooper) are both handled at Crossbank. No need to be referred out for the main stages.
- **Staged and predictable.** Treatment is broken into clear stages so you can see progress, ask questions, and pause if life gets in the way.
- **Protected long term.** A custom nightguard and planned reviews help the restorations hold up.

## Frequently asked questions

### What exactly is a full mouth rehabilitation?

It is a coordinated plan to restore teeth across the whole mouth rather than fixing them one by one. The aim is a comfortable bite, healthy gums, and a natural-looking result.

### What usually causes the need for one?

Common reasons are long-term grinding or clenching, acid erosion from diet or reflux, multiple old fillings reaching the end of their life, broken-down back teeth, or missing teeth that have allowed others to drift.

### What are provisionals?

Temporary lab-made ceramic restorations we place in your mouth so you can trial the look and the bite before we commit to the final ceramic. You wear them for a period, we refine shape and length if needed, and only transfer to the final work once you are happy.

### How long does treatment take?

Most rehabilitations run over several months, not weeks. The exact timeline depends on how many teeth are involved and whether gum treatment or tooth replacement is needed first.

### How much does it cost?

Costs vary widely because every case is different. You will receive a written, itemised fee schedule after your assessment so you can see what each stage costs before agreeing to anything.

### Do you have to refer me out for implants or gum work?

No. Gum treatment is handled in-house. Implant work is done in-house with Dr Neil Cooper where appropriate. The main stages of a rehabilitation stay under one roof.

### Do I need crowns on every tooth?

Usually not. We always consider a smaller onlay or a composite rebuild first, and only recommend a crown when the remaining tooth structure genuinely needs that level of coverage.

### Will I need a nightguard afterwards?

For most patients, yes. Grinding and clenching are common causes of wear in the first place, so a custom nightguard is often recommended to help protect your new restorations while you sleep.
